Alex Dittmer, Arles and others
Alex Dittmer is a native of rural Illinois, and a current resident of NYC. He has worked in the award winning independent short film The Vacation, as well as playing the title character in the indie film The Turtle. His favorite stage roles have included Eddie in A View From The Bridge, Balthazar in Our Lady of 121st Street and Toby Belch in Twelfth Night. He received his BA from Southern Illinois University and his MFA from Ohio University. Chuck Stransky, Thurston and others
Mr. Stransky is very pleased to make his debut at The Lake George Dinner Theatre performing in Greater Tuna. On Broadway he was in the original production of Glengarry Glen Ross, and also appeared in The Front Page. Off-Broadway Mr Stransky played entirely in French the role of La Poubellein The Primary English Class. He understudied and played several roles in Death Defying Acts. With The Manhattan Theatre Club he understudied in Psychopathia Sexualis and Sarah, Sarah. He has played in regional theatres through-out the U.S. including: The Kitchen Theatre; The Capital Repertory Theatre; The Old Globe Theatre; The Delaware Theatre Co.; The State Theatre in Austin, Texas; The Vermont Stage Co.; American Players Theatre; and The Goodman Theatre. On film, he can be seen in The Spanish Prisoner, Homicide, Things Change, all written and directed by David Mamet. Other films include: Dad, Stone Cold, Ghost in the Machine, and Anger Management. Mr. Stransky’s appearances on TV include Ed, Third Watch, Newhart, Murphy Brown, Frank’s Place, My Sister Sam; several episodes of Law and Order and recently Dr. Delanoin All My Children. Mr. Stransky has narrated numerous audio books of every variety. His most recent is Red Moon Rising, a history recounting the launching of Sputnik. He is a proud member of Actors Equity Association for thirty years.

Helena Binder, Director
An actor and director of plays and musicals for over 20 years before focusing her career on opera, Helena Binder has earned praise for her direction of Minnesota Opera’s recent production of L’italiana in Algeri, and for her productions of Ermione, Il ritorno d’Ulisse, and Madame Butterfly for New York City Opera. Her production of The Barber of Seville for The Dallas Opera was named one of the Top Ten Classical Performances of 2006 by the Dallas Morning News. She has directed for Portland Opera, Minnesota Opera, Pittsburgh Opera, Opera Toledo, Lake George Opera, Chattanooga Symphony and Opera,and Opera Roanoke. Her theatre credits include productions for The New York State Theatre Institute, Leatherstocking Theatre, Union College and Home Made Theater, including Noises Off, Foxfire, Wait Until Dark, A Life in the Theatre, Equus, Ten Little Indians and Charlotte’s Web. She has been director of the Legislative Correspondents Association Show, the oldest political satire revue in the country, for the past 25 years. A choreographer as well, Ms. Binder choreographed productions for The Dallas Opera, Pittsburgh Opera, and Glimmerglass Opera where she also went on for an ailing countertenor.
As an actor, she has performed in regional theatre in the United States and abroad in roles ranging from Peter Pan to Shakespeare’s Juliet, and was singer in the rock n’ roll group, Blotto, that recorded the hit I Wanna Be A Lifeguard.
A committed arts educator, Ms. Binder taught acting at Union College and founded The Acting School, a studio for children and adults, in Schenectady, New York where she was the Performing Arts Specialist for the city’s first Magnet School Program. Along with coaching singers and actors she has worked with the University of Maryland Opera Theatre Program, the young artist programs of Lake George Opera, Minnesota Opera and Glimmerglass Opera and has taught classes and workshops all over New York State. Upcoming engagements include Fidelio for Portland Opera, Falstaff for Opera Roanoke and Turandot and La Boheme for Chattanooga Symphony and Opera.

Michael Blau, Scenic Designer
The design for Greater Tuna brings Michael back to Lake George Dinner Theatre. Previous productions include: Over the Tavern, Wally’s Café and Remember Me.
His full time job is the Executive Vice President in charge of Design for an innovative water play interactive company, Wizard Works Product Development Company, Inc. in Albany, NY. Previously, he has had many opportunities to work for major Theme Parks, Museums, Broadway and Opera as an Art Director with Adirondack Studios in Argyle, NY. In the theatrical world, he has designed over 100 shows ranging from National Tours, Off-Broadway, Regional and University theater productions.

Patti Pawliczak, Costume Designer
Patty Pawliczak has been doing costumes in the Capital region for over 20 years. This is her 4th show with Lake George Dinner Theater. She currently teaches, designs and runs the costume shop for the Theater Dept at Skidmore College in Saratoga. This past year there she designed Under Milk Wood and The Cherry Orchard. She has done many plays for Home Made Theater, most recently the Tom Stoppard duo of The Real Inspector Hound and The 15-Minute Hamlet. Other plays there include Side Man, Urinetown, Lion in Winter and Something's Afoot. Patty has also worked on videos and films shot in this area including Billy Bathgate and The Age of Innocence. |
